Created in 2017, this series of works on paper depicts everyday subjects, including food, tableware and drink cans, in black pen, watercolour and watercolour pencils. Fine lines trace contours, folds and internal structures, while light washes and coloured pencil marks allow the linework to remain visible. From the curves of fruit peel and lettering on packaging to the intersecting grid of a tablecloth, line both describes form and organises the composition. The series marks Fang Ting Ting’s exploration of a different relationship between line and colour, alongside her work with dense oil paint.
