Created in 2020, this group of paintings includes wilted roses, plants and household objects. Fang Ting Ting deliberately waited for a rose to wilt before painting it repeatedly against different background colours. The flower remains bowed. By changing the surrounding colours and enlarging its thorns in vivid hues, Fang preserves a sense of vitality within its fading form. Painting becomes her way of responding to its decline: recording it and giving meaning to its existence.
